Energy is what matter is made of. I do not consider energy work to be a belief system, but a fact of physics. Directing energy for healing purposes is a skill that has been taught for millennia. I was first trained in energy healing through the Silva method in 1977. I took in-depth training with Stephen Bruno from 1997-99 including about a thousand hours of in-person training and partner exercises in workshops. In several of our workshops we did energy work with two people who had cancer, one with a fast-growing brain tumor. In 2001 I took Reiki levels one, two, and three, including Reiki teacher training, from Stephen Bruno. In recent years I have been receiving phone coaching from Stephen and lately we have been revisiting the skills of healing energy and intuition.
Stephen taught, and I continue, the hands-above method. This begins with connecting with the essence of the person, which can be done from the crown, or through the feet of the person, standing at a distance:

Connecting with your essence at the beginning creates a different connection, than not connecting with the essence. Your essence has knowledge of who you were, who you are now, and who you are destined to be. Connecting with your essence allows me to direct the energy to skip all the conditions and conditioning that influence you, and bring you toward being the You you would naturally be in your life by now, had you lived naturally all this time. Connecting with the essence is a safe, comforting relationship sort of like coming home.
...and then walking slowly around the table doing a scan of the body's energy. Any place that feels different, I come back to and wait with my hand above that area as the energy draw builds, levels off, and diminishes, until the energy has completed its draw in that area:
Charlie, the dog, liked to lie under the table whenever we did energy work at our house.
I often do energy work sessions with people who are not physically present. I go to my massage table and imagine you are lying on my table. At the appointed time, I stand at the head of the table, connect with your essence through your crown, and walk around the table with my hand above where your body would be, if you were lying on my table. There are other ways to do energy at a distance, but I find that standing beside the massage table keeps me on task, on duty for the whole of the time I have allotted.
Though I am a Reiki Master Teacher and I have taught many others, I still consider myself a student of energy work. One of my resolutions for 2012 is to build an undeniable connection with energy healing and intuition. That is why I am offering hands-above energy work sessions at a discounted rate for the first quarter of 2012;
