Reduced fees are only be applicable to treatments for which you have arranged the sliding scale at least one week in advance by phone or in person. Cancellation Policy: If you must change or cancel your appointment time, I require 24 hours advance notice by phone, or 48 hours advance notice by email. This allows me time to offer your time to another client. If you cancel or change your appointment time without notifying me in advance (as noted above) I require a cancellation fee of half the normal session fee. Cancellation fees must be paid in full before another appointment can be scheduled. Payments Accepted: Cash, check (to Patrick Moore Package Discounts: 5% discounts are offered to those paying in advance for five sessions. 10% discounts are offered to those paying in advance for ten sessions. What to Expect from Your Session Intake and Post Interview: When we meet, I will greet you warmly and ask about your goals or expectations for the session. At the end of your session I will ask you what changes you notice. We will use at least five minutes of your treatment time for these two dialogues. We need to be clear about your goals and changes so we can monitor your progress toward complete healing. I consider the dialogue itself to be a healing process, and that is why we use some of your time for this. Complementary Medicine: Massage therapy is intended to assist medical therapies, not replace them. I encourage you to find doctors in whom you feel confident, who can guide, direct, diagnose, and prescribe the course to your cure. If you are having difficulty creating a healing relationship with a doctor, I offer health coaching. Again, this does not replace the doctor relationship, but it will assist you in adjusting your search efforts and communication with doctors. It is realistic to expect to have relationships with doctors that meet your needs. Further questions? I offer free 10-minute phone consultations. Please contact me.

Home Visits: Sessions in your home incur a travel fee. Simply MapQuest or Google the distance from my crossroads to your home, then add $1.25 per mile, one way. If two or more people receive consecutive massages at your home, the travel fee is paid only once.
Advance Scheduling and Payment: Checkbooks and appointment books seem cumbersome in the pleasant state you'll be in after the session. This is why I request that you make payments and scheduling arrangements before your session begins.
Therapies: Melting Muscles massage, atlas and axis treatment, Reiki, healing energy, medical intuition, injury assessment and correction, pain treatment, and health coaching. A combination of therapies may be offered during a single session.
Draping: I prefer to massage through clothing. This saves time and creates an environment that is more equal. Because you do not disrobe, you will not need draping. Please wear loose or stretchy clothing that allows me to move your joints through a moderate range of motion and to feel the shape of your muscles. No jeans please. For your comfort, my office is equipped with blankets, heat lamps, a fan and air conditioning.
Improvisation: Rather than following a pre-determined therapeutic recipe, I use your moment-to-moment verbal and nonverbal feedback to guide your session. If you receive a number of treatments, each will be uniquely tailored to your needs.
Music: I have a variety of music: classical, chamber, early, new age, Irish, Native American and nature sounds including birds, cicadas, ocean and rain. Some people prefer no music. Please let me know your preferences.
Speaking Up: I realize it is challenging to share your preferences when you are lying prone. For this reason, I recommend you state your preferences before your session begins. When new preferences come to your mind during your session (a different pressure, too warm or too cool, desire for movement to another area), please resist the urge to lie there quietly and DO let me know. I want to hear your needs. I work best in partnership with your guidance.
Talking During Your Session: If you prefer silence, please let me know in advance so I can accommodate you. Otherwise, I will occasionally ask what you are feeling so I can tailor your treatment accordingly. I may also ask you about the history of joints and muscles, as I come to new areas that feel distressed.
Intuitive Guidance: I allow intuition to guide my hands to muscles and joints that call for my assistance. If you would like to hear this process, please request that I speak about it, otherwise I will keep this process nonverbal.
Thoughts on Muscle Therapy
Muscle Therapy: I consider my licensed scope of practice to be muscle therapy. Muscles are controlled by the brain and muscles control joints and bones. So by extension my therapy is applied to bones, joints, and the brain, but only to the degree that these help to relax the muscles. Still, since there is currently no licensure for energy healing and for lifecoaching, I feel justified to bring these skills to play when they are requested.
Duration of Therapy: Some people complete their therapeutic goal in one session. I have seen this numerous times with tendinitis sufferers. If the cause is simple, such as an overuse pattern, and the person is willing to stop the activity that caused the problem, then my techniques will work quickly. When people continue to do what caused the problem, then therapy takes longer, because time is needed to change the old pattern and balance to a new pattern. Two people are needed to complete a therapeutic goal. If you do not recognize at least a little progress in each session, significant progress in four sessions, and the majority of your goal complete within six months, then I will suggest other approaches that might be more effective than massage therapy, for your situation.Completing Therapy: The first time we meet, I will ask you what your goals are for therapy. As we approach completion, I will remind you that your original goals have almost been met. I do not believe people need ongoing “maintenance” therapy. I believe there comes a time when a person is healed and no longer needs assistance from a therapist. I will be the first to encourage you to graduate from my services. Of course, once you complete your original goals, new goals may emerge, and I am happy to create a new therapeutic agreement until you graduate through these.
