Coaching with Patrick Moore

Profession or Life Coaching?

Having been an educator since 1979 and massage therapist since 1992. I have been writing fiction since 1982 including two novels and have published technical writing and poetry. I have much to offer healers, teachers and writers.

Life coaching may focus on balancing indulgence, creativity, discovering yourself, exercise, family, fitting in, fulfillment, fun, going green, health, improving relationships, nutrition, parenting, and spirituality.

Whether you choose to focus on your profession or improving other aspects of your life, our sessions will help you to be more natural, to choose more fulfilling expectations, to understand and appreciate others and to serve yourself and others in balance.

Purpose of Coaching

Coaching works well for people who are willing to embrace the current and future challenges life presents and to move forward. You supply the willingness and I provide assistance so that your efforts move you forward efficiently, minimizing your struggle and suffering and maximizing your progress. Coaching is not intended to replace Counseling or Talk Therapy for those people whose old patterns continue to hold them back.

Patrick’s Coaching Approach

You are more capable than you think. I will not tell you things that you already know. Instead I will inspire you; first to glimpse who you truly are, how much you influence your life and the world, to reactivate your dormant abilities, and then to direct your influence in harmony with your goals.

I will not tell you what to believe or value, but will support your own beliefs and values as long as they serve you.

How do we know it is working?
In our first session I will assist you to verbalize your purpose, path, aims and goals. I will ask you how you will know that you are making progress, how you will know when your goal is completed. Near the end of each session I will ask you to tell me what you have gained. Often you do not realize how far you have come until you hear it in your own words.

How long will we be coaching together?
Coaching is not forever. If at any time during the coaching process it appears that your progress is slowing, I will offer exit strategies. Similarly, as you complete your original path, purpose, aims, and goals, I will celebrate your completion with you as we set the date for your final session. Once you have completed your first aims, of course you may choose another cycle of coaching toward new paths, purposes, aims, and goals.

Patrick’s Background and Experience

Training
After receiving a B.A. in Math, I excelled at the legendary Brian Utting School of Massage in Seattle from 1992-94. As a massage therapist, I became partner at Natural Essence Healing Center. There I met counselor Stephen Bruno and was immersed in Stephen’s approach to natural healing, teaching workshops, and publishing (Stephen was founder of the SouthWest Institute in the 1980s, perhaps the original inventor of what is now called Life Coaching. He continues to provide services through www.moon-rock.com ) I trained with Stephen for 11 years concurrent with ongoing medical massage training and Reiki. I am a graduate of the Silva method of empathetic healing and a Reiki Master/Teacher.

Experience
I was a great math teacher so I understand how to learn and convey difficult topics so they are not only digestible but enjoyable. I worked construction for twelve years so I understand the importance of planning, scheduling, realistic expectations, and safety. In my youth reckless and indulgent behaviors from cliff diving to mind-altering substances provided me with lots of experience to now assist others in natural balance. I am divorced but we succeeded in raising a brilliant and creative daughter majoring in Philosophy. Now very happily married, I am parent to an energetic 10-year old stepson. Parenting is, I believe, one of my strong suits. In the creative arts I have performed music, singing, and dance, shown my music compositions and fiction, published nonfiction and poetry, and sold my photography. In my massage career I have assisted thousands of people to heal, published two technique articles, and taught 700 people curriculæ of my design. I hope to publish a book for natural healers this year.

Influences
I was raised a Roman Catholic and considered priesthood. By age 7 I was asking tough questions about religion—still with reverence. In the 1980’s I began reading about zen and took refuge as a Tibetan buddhist in 1991. Synchronicity would bring the Dalai Lama to Seattle in 1992 allowing me to received an attunement from him and 2 minutes of his individual time. In my spare time I enjoy reading theology, philosophy, science and fiction especially Benjamin Franklin and Edgar Allan Poe. I keep abreast of science breakthroughs like string theory, Lamarckian evolution, quantum physics in cells, mirror neurons in the brain, and ‘tHooft’s theory of our universe as a hologram.

Your Short Goals and Long Path

A goal may be completed quicker than you think, or longer, depending on how many other goals you have attached to it. For example, you may think that losing weight is your only goal but as you progress you discover that your deeper goal is really to feel good about who you are. You may be thinking, “oh great, we’re opening a whole can of worms.” The irony is that once you feel good about who you are, the weight begins to evaporate quickly. Following the thread to your deeper goals is like time travel; years may be accomplished in weeks.

On the other hand, your goal may be “enlightenment,” embracing your essence, releasing all judgment, or other big picture. In these cases, it is wise to also look at the small picture; creating finite, achievable steps that each lift your perspective enough to see the landscape more clearly.

In my experience you will make much faster progress by improving the areas that you have abandoned or ignored. For example, a yoga practitioner who is already very flexible may prefer to double her time in the yoga studio, but she would benefit more from pumping iron or running. On the other hand, a muscle-bound guy would benefit more from yoga. We all want to show off the things we do well which is fine, but our coaching time is better spent examining those parts that have received too little attention.

From this perspective, anything you experience, any challenges you face, may be used to move forward. For example, pains and symptoms provide a starting point; relieving or reversing the symptoms back to an earlier state of health would be the work of “therapy.” Coaching is for embracing the pain and symptoms, to make them better for having happened, to go where you have not gone before.

We can talk about the things you don’t want in your life any longer, which includes your choosing what you would like in their place. We can talk about things you’d like to gain, which includes your choosing what you are willing to relinquish to make space for them.

Even if you don’t know what you want… if you are willing to change, I can offer you different perspectives until you gain enough clarity to design your unique path.

The topics we discuss are not as important as the processes we use. We can talk about relationships, spirituality, religion, money, food, ailments, competition, daily structure, exercise, creativity, writing, being natural, healing, philosophy, or really anything. It is my responsibility to make sure that our conversations give you a clear sense that your life is moving in a direction you value.

How/Where?

I recommend we talk by phone or use instant messenger if you would prefer to keep a written record of our sessions. Coaching sessions are also available in person in NW Tucson, either at a tea/coffee shop, restaurant like Choice Greens, or at my office. You may email between sessions for clarification.

My Belief

I have an ulterior motive for coaching. I believe you are eight things: unconditionally compassionate, non-self-important, non-judgmental, present, patient, curious, vulnerable, and generous. By assisting you to bring these qualities out of dormancy, not only will you accelerate through your current path and aims, but you will change the world and influence others dramatically. I want to live in a world where the eight qualities increase. This serves me as much as it serves you J

Policies and Fees

Coaching is something that you plan in advance, so I accept all payment in advance of the session. It is realistic to expect that you will need more than one session to complete your path and aims, so I provide larger incentives the more sessions you purchase in advance. There is no return of funds for sessions pre-paid, though you may give the sessions to someone else. If you can realistically expect your aims will be completed in four months, it would be an inefficient use of your money to purchase a year’s sessions in advance, and just as inefficient to pay for each session as you go at the highest rate per hour. Realistically consider how much time you expect you will be coaching before choosing your coaching plan.

One hour prepaid $90.00
Four hours prepaid $342.00 (you save 5%)
Eight hours prepaid $648.00 (you save 10%)

Checks may be written to Patrick Moore, LMT. Credit card payments are accepted through PayPal; you must have email or access to the internet to use a credit card. I will send you a bill by email and you simply click on the link and follow the directions.

I recommend we talk once a week but you may spread the sessions out to a maximum of once a month.

It is best to schedule during a time when you know you will not be interrupted. I have set aside the hour specifically for you--if you are late calling or connecting for your session, our session will still be scheduled to end at the same time. If you do not call or connect, the fee will still be deducted from your total. If you know you are not going to be able to call, please give me 24 hours notice so that I may make myself available to someone else during that time.

Questions?

I am happy to offer a 15 minute consultation to see if we work well together.
